01IN SHORT
- Armory X works without an account. An account is only needed to install mods from Mod Hub, or to run a tester build as an approved tester.
- There are no ads, and no analytics or advertising trackers in the app or on the website.
- We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
- Most of what Armory X does, like cleaning, De-Bloat, repairs and reading your game library, happens on your PC and stays there.
- Crash reports are sent by default so we can fix crashes. They have your Windows user name, PC name and email addresses removed, and you can turn them off in Settings.
02ACCOUNTS
When you create an account on mericanizedstudios.com or in the app, we store:
- your email address
- your username, which is also your display name
- a profile picture, if you upload one
- how you sign in (email and password, or Google), and when the account was created and last changed
- account roles we assign, such as administrator access
- whether the account is marked as a tester, which lets it run tester builds of Armory X
- whether the account is banned, with the reason, when the ban was made and when it ends. The reason is shown to the banned person.
Accounts run on Google Firebase Authentication. Your password is handled by Firebase and is never stored by us. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your email address, name and profile picture with us. Firebase keeps them with your sign-in, and your first username is suggested from your Google name or email.
Profile pictures are stored in Firebase Storage and can be opened by anyone who has the link. Each username is stored with its account ID only, not your email address. When you sign in with your username, our server finds the account and signs you in with Firebase. Your password passes through it without being stored or logged, the account's email address is never sent back, and the answer is the same whether a username doesn't exist or the password is wrong.
03THE ARMORY X APP
CRASH REPORTS
Crash reports are on by default. When Armory X crashes or hits a serious error, it sends a report to Sentry, a crash reporting service, so we can find and fix the problem. A report contains the type of error, its message and the code location it came from, the Armory X version, whether it is a release or development build, your processor architecture and .NET version, basic system details such as your Windows version, a short random report ID, and a short list of what the app was doing (for example that it had started and opened its window).
Before a report leaves your PC, Armory X removes:
- your Windows user name and your user folder path
- your PC's name
- email addresses
- sign-in tokens, passwords, API keys and other secrets
Reports are not linked to your account, and Armory X does not add your IP address to them. Sentry receives each report over the internet, so it can see the IP address it came from, as any server can. Other file paths, such as a game folder, can still appear in a report.
To stop sending crash reports, open Settings, go to the Advanced tab and turn off Send crash reports under Diagnostics. It takes effect right away, and nothing still waiting to be sent goes out after that.
LOGS AND CRASH REPORTS ON YOUR PC
Armory X keeps its own logs and a copy of each crash report in its folder in %APPDATA%\ArmoryX, and the Armory X System Helper keeps a short status log in %ProgramData%\Armory X\Logs. These stay on your PC and are not uploaded. App logs are kept for 14 days. Uninstalling with Also remove my settings and sign-inticked deletes the Armory X folder in AppData, including logs, crash reports, settings and your saved sign-in.
SAVE DIAGNOSTICS
Settings has a Save diagnosticsoption that writes a zip file to your PC with recent logs, crash reports and a summary of your Armory X version, Windows version and a fixed list of settings. The same details as above are removed first. Nothing is sent anywhere. We only see the file if you choose to send it to us, for example with a support request.
UPDATE CHECKS
About 30 seconds after it starts, and every 4 hours after that, Armory X checks mericanizedstudios.com for a new version and its release notes. A new version only downloads and installs when you choose to update. Test builds send the tester's sign-in with these requests, because only approved testers can get them. We count how many times each version is downloaded, not who downloaded it.
CHECK-IN
Armory X 1.0 and newer checks in with mericanizedstudios.com when it starts and every five minutes while it runs. It sends hashed versions of your PC's security chip (TPM) key, BIOS system ID, motherboard serial number and main drive serial number. A hash only works one way, so the real numbers can't be worked out from it, and they never leave your PC. It also sends your PC's name, your Windows version, the Armory X version and, when you are signed in, your account. We use this to keep banned people from using Armory X and to limit tester builds to approved testers. When Armory X closes, it sends one short message without any of these details, so its PC shows as offline. Armory X can run offline for up to 7 days between check-ins.
GRAPHICS DRIVERS AND WINDOWS
When graphics driver checks are on, which they are by default, Armory X asks NVIDIA or AMD whether a newer driver is available. Your graphics card is identified on your PC. NVIDIA is sent only its own product and series numbers for your card, your Windows version and a language code, and AMD's public download page is read. No serial numbers or hardware IDs are sent to NVIDIA or AMD. You can turn the checks off in Settings under Graphics drivers.
Driver installs through Windows Update use Windows' own services, which contact Microsoft under Microsoft's terms. If the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime that Armory X needs is missing, Armory X downloads Microsoft's installer from Microsoft.
MOD HUB
The Mod Hub list of games and mods loads from mericanizedstudios.com and works without signing in. To install a mod you need to be signed in. Armory X then sends mericanizedstudios.com which mod, game and version you chose. That request has no information about your PC. We check your account, create a download link that works for 10 minutes and record an install session with your account ID, email address, the mod, game and version, a download ID and the time. Install sessions are deleted after about a day. Mod files download from Google Cloud Storage.
Armory X keeps a record of the mods you install, where they went, and backups of the game files they replace, on your PC only.
STEAM AND YOUR GAMES
To find your installed games, Armory X reads Steam's library files on your PC, including each game's install folder, build number and when it was last played. This is only read on your PC and is not sent anywhere. Armory X does not sign in to Steam or use your Steam account.
SIGNING IN FROM THE APP
Signing in with an email and password goes to Firebase Authentication. Signing in with a username goes through mericanizedstudios.com, which finds the account and signs in with Firebase for you. Signing in with Google opens mericanizedstudios.com in your browser, which hands the sign-in back to Armory X through a local address on your own PC. If you tick Keep me signed in, your account ID, username, email address and sign-in tokens are saved in Armory X's data folder on your PC. The sign-in tokens are encrypted with Windows so that only your Windows account on that PC can read them. Otherwise they are only kept while the app is open.
EVERYTHING ELSE
Cleaning, De-Bloat, Arsenal, hotkeys and the System Helper all run on your PC. Arsenal background images download from Firebase Storage when you open the background picker. Armory X has no advertising or analytics software built in.
04THE WEBSITE
HOSTING
mericanizedstudios.com is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver and protect the site, Cloudflare handles each request, including your IP address and browser details, and may keep logs for a limited time under its own policy. We don't use them to track visitors.
SUPPORT REQUESTS
The support form sends your name, email address, request category, subject and message to our support inbox by email, using the email service Resend, and sends you a receipt. Your IP address is used to limit each sender to 5 requests an hour. That count is kept only in the server's short-term memory and is not saved. Emails you send to support@mericanizedstudios.com are handled the same way.
COOKIES AND BROWSER STORAGE
- There are no advertising or analytics cookies.
- When you sign in, Firebase saves your sign-in in your browser's storage so you stay signed in.
- Signing in to the app through the website sets a few short-lived cookies, which expire after 10 minutes, to keep that sign-in secure.
CONTENT FROM OTHER SITES
Mod Hub game artwork can load from IGDB or Firebase Storage. When your browser loads these, those services see your IP address. Armory X downloads and the site's fonts are served from mericanizedstudios.com itself.
